Bleecker Court
77 Bleecker Street , New York City
Fire destroyed a 19th century loft building, leaving its decorative marble facade free standing and in danger of collapse or demolition. This historic architecture was restored and integrated with new construction – the entire complex consisting of four buildings. 242 apartments are arranged around two courtyards which provide green space as well as light and air to artists’ studios below grade. Bleecker Court was cited with the 1981 NYC/AIA Residential Design Award.
